How to Cornrow PDF E-mail
Written by Amy McKnight

Cornrows and French braids use the same principles as braiding and plaiting. The only difference is braids and plaits use small sections of hair to make many individual braids/plaits. Cornrows and French braids use large sections of hair to make a continuous flat braid/plait.

There are two types off flat braids – overhand (French braid) and underhand (cornrows). Overhand is where you are bringing the hair toward the center, this method is used in French braids. Under handed where you are bringing the hair away from the center, this method is used in cornrows. They are really opposite sides of the same coin.

How to Cornrows

Part a long inch wide section of hair from the front of your head to the back.

Separate a piece of hair at the beginning of the row.

Divide that section into there parts.

Take the left section and bring it under the middle. Pick up some of the loose hair from the row.

Now take the right section and bring it under the middle. Pick up some of the loose hair from the row.

Repeat to the end.
