The Wash and Go PDF E-mail
Written by Amy McKnight

This is one incredibly simple natural hairstyle.

Wash your hair as usually when you are about to rinse out the conditioner, use cool water and leave a little in.

After you have washed your hair while you are still in the shower, gently shake your head back and forth.

The weight of the water should make your hair form little coils.

Gently blot dry with a towel to absorb the excess water.

You’re done.

Tip:

I have found that when my twist outs are on their way out. I wet my hair just a little and shake out the excess water. This makes my hair look more curly and less like a nappy fro when it dries.

Try both ways and see which works best for you.

Hi chelle75, i recently did the BC and had the same problem with my hair. However, i have discovered that it responds better after applying shea butter and a leave in conditioner and putting it under a plastic cap for about 30 minutes. The trick is definately to rinse with "hot" water followed by cold. The cold water locks in the curl pattern.

Your hair will be amazingly soft after this! You may then try applying styling gel in a circular motion with the palms of your hands. Hair grows in a particular direction... rub in the direction of your hair's growth and the curls will clump together and just "pop". It is easier to see this working with shorter hair.

*(if you have children... remember when you first laid eyes on the baby and the little curls lay flat swirling in the same direction. You will need to play in your hair until you discover the growth direction... combing or rubbing against the grain will cause frizz)

Everyone's hair is different(what works for one may not work for the another). Be patient and give yourself time to learn what works for you, before opting to do something permanent ie., locking, texturizing, etc.

i'm afraid to do the wash and go because my hair is really tightly coiled, i feel like i'll end up with a tangled mess : (
