by plutor from flickr I had to take a break from writing for a while but I am back. I want to share some of the changes that I am planning for NHCG Hopefully it will help to make this site truly the most helpful site for those who want to go natural and stay natural.
Let the Blogging Begin One of the major changes that I am going to be making to the site is changing its format from a regular website to a blog. What will be making up the ‘meat’ of the site will be daily posts (Mon – Fri). I will do my best to try to hit all of the aspects of natural hair styling and care.
Why A blog? I really went back and forth with this a lot. I think a blog will be a way for me to really interact with the sites members about the content of the site. I will know exactly whether or not the articles are hitting the mark. So, I’m not writing in a vacuum. It also adds a nice sense of community. At least I hope it will . . .
Bye, Bye, Forum With the beginning of the blog, we will have to say good-bye to the forum. It really wasn’t getting that much use and I honestly don’t have enough time to really do a good job staying on top of moderation. I was also getting a ton of spam post. I am planning to give the four major categories of natural hair,( loose naturals, locked naturals, transitioners and those who wear extensions) their fair share of time so hopeful there will be something for each and every person who comes to visit the new blog.
Other Odds and Ends In addition to moving around the article links, I will also be rearranging some other aspects of the navigation of the site. So not to confuse any of my regular visitors I will be sure to dedicate a post to where everything has been moved. Oh yes, and as you can see, I have changed the look a bit. But the neat thing is that you can customize the look to suit YOUR style. See that little button at the top of the page that says “Color Chooser”? You can use that to make the site your favorite color and play around with a few other details. So you can make your viewing experience as unique as you. I would love to hear any suggestions that you may have. What would you like to see in a natural hair care blog?
